MANDEVILLE, La. —
Mandeville isn’t known as a crime-stricken community, but Police Chief Gerald Sticker believes body cameras for his officers are necessary.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about giving us another investigative tool,” Sticker said.

In 2018, the Mandeville City Council approved spending $127,000 over the next five years to cover the costs of the cameras, including associated technology and maintenance.

Neighbors believe that is money well-spent.

“It’s not only protection for them,” Jamie Forsythe said. “It’s protection for the people as well. There is no guessing, there is a camera, you see exactly what is going on.”

The department has all 41 of the cameras at it’s headquarters. Sticker is hoping to have all officers equipped by the end of April.
